Narcissus Pfister commented on the Sentences of Peter Lombard two times: in
1400, as lector of the Dominican studium
generale of Cologne and, later on, as baccalaureus
at the University of Cologne,
sometime between 1402 and 1406. The autograph manuscript Augsburg Staats und
Stadtbibliothek 4o cod. 31 bears witness to both these instances.
After finishing his studies (he became doctor
theologiae in 1408) and fulfilling further academic obligations, in 1413 he
obtained the licentia ubique docendi.
Subsequently, he left Cologne for Augsburg (1416 or 1419) and, in 1423/1424, joined
the Benedictine order at the Monastery Saint Ulrich and Afra in Augsburg.
